Big Salmon Lake Loop: 17 kilometre circuit |

Why waste a perfect hiking day?
Especially with an ambitious goal ahead of us, during this month and
next, to complete the Frontenac Challenge.
We’re building up to the “big one” – Slide Lake Loop. So today’s
successful adventure gave us confidence that we can handle it, although the author doesn’t have a lot of extra
energy to create a brilliant article today!
The pictures will make up for it, especially thanks to the photogenic
turtles.
For a moment we wondered if we had missed the yellow sign giving us the secret
password which proves that we actually hiked this loop – but then it was right
in front of us, much to our relief.
What fun this challenge is! It’s
not too late for you to try it too. Over
three hundred people have signed up this year, but there’s still lots of room
on the trails. Some people seem to be in
a hurry to get it done. Today we picked
up a single shoe and a baseball cap which were left behind on the trail by a
speeding hiker – if they’re yours, the park office has them.
Now for the next loop.
